Meet the Maker

Michelle is an artistic soul & cannot imagine a life without creating art.
Having recently discovered weaving, Michelle began incorporating wreaths into frames for her bird series. Her abstracts combine a liveliness of expressive colour with a playful palette, resulting in vibrant, multilayered pieces. She uses acrylic paint for her mixed media, mono-prints, and collages on either canvas, paper, or wood.
Frequently Asked Questions
What medium do you use?
I use acrylic paint, various papers and canvas, and I sometimes mount onto hardwood boards.
Do you teach classes?
Sorry, not at this time. My studio is in our basement, and it’s a 1920s house so … the ceilings aren’t very high!
Do you ship larger items?
We can see what is possible with FedEx or UPS. There isn’t a blanket “yes” or “no” answer to this question.
How did you learn to paint?
Over the years I’ve taken a variety of classes. Though, I think the most important part of being an artist is pushing the paint around and seeing what it can do when you let go of control a bit, and let it take you where it will.
Are you in any stores?
Not as of yet. I participate in Art Walk in Nanaimo (November 2025) and will most likely be at Cold Front Gelato again.
